Whitehaven Coal Celebrates Courageous Cowgirls and Cowboys at ABCRA National Finals Rodeo

Australia’s toughest rodeo athletes recently battled it out in AELEC’s Main Arena during the ABCRA’s National Finals Rodeo, sponsored by Whitehaven Coal. This adrenaline-filled event, held over three days and nights, saw top cowgirls and cowboys from across the nation compete in various rodeo events including saddle bronc, bull ride, bareback, and more.

This year’s rodeo was held during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, adding to the excitement and atmosphere of the event. Over 10,000 people passed through the doors to witness the thrilling action and cheer on their favourite competitors.

As a major sponsor of the event, Whitehaven Coal presented the top honour awards to the winning cowgirls and cowboys. Attendees were also interested to hear from Whitehaven about employment opportunities, our community contributions, and in some cases they even asked the team for directions around the AELEC main arena.

Whitehaven’s newest graduate cohort joined us in Tamworth, helping to hand out branded merchandise and cheering on the courageous rodeo athletes as they competed for glory. It was a proud moment for us to partner with the ABCRA and host a National Finals event in our region, highlighting our commitment to supporting the local community.

In addition to the National Finals Rodeo, Whitehaven Coal also sponsored the ABCRA Campdraft National Finals, held in Tamworth in November. We’re committed to supporting events that bring the community together and showcase the talent and dedication of Australia’s toughest athletes.
