ASX:WHC:

We're committed to making a difference in our communities

We take great pride in our long-standing links with local communities, including the fact the majority of our people live in the local areas around our operations, and we are pleased to support a range of charities and community organisations.

We firmly believe the local community should be the main beneficiary of our presence and we are focused on building local prosperity, improving quality of life, and ensuring our regional towns thrive.

Following community feedback, we’ve developed a new approach to community investment that is more structured and open and involves community representatives in the funding allocation process.

We continue to provide support to initiatives across health, education, the environment, indigenous empowerment, regional sport and activities with a whole-of-community benefit.

From October 2021, applications for Whitehaven sponsorship and donations will be advertised four times a year, with $50,000 made available per round.

Annual funding rounds

Applications open 1 January 1 April 1 July 1 October
Applications close 31 January 30 April 31 July 31 October
Successful applicants contacted 1 March 1 June 1 September 1 December

A community-based Committee has been established to administer the application rounds. The Committee Members include an Indigenous representative, as well as one community representative and one Council representative each from the Narrabri, Gunnedah and Liverpool Plains LGAs.

The Committee will review requests for sponsorships, donations and gifts in kind against the criteria outlined in our guidelines and a statement of our contributions will be published each year.

Unfortunately, due to the high level of interest, we are unable to support all requests. Any decision made by Whitehaven Coal concerning funding or gifts in kind is final.
