Southeast Asia Energy Outlook 2015
The IEA has published Southeast Asia Energy Outlook 2015- a special report on the energy trends in the region.
The report highlights that the power sector is fundamental to the energy outlook for Southeast Asia, and that within it, coal is emerging as the fuel of choice because of its relative abundance and affordability in the region. Demand for coal will expand at the fastest rate of all energy sources and reach 440 Mtce in 2040, a level comparable to India today.
The World Coal Association has summarised the key findings of the report in this document: WCA Insights Series – Southeast Asia Energy Outlook.
The full text of the report can be accessed via the IEA website at http://www.iea.org/publications/freepublications/publication/WEO2015_SouthEastAsia.pdf
