Media – The activists who claim tax breaks

Aggressive green groups – including Lock The Gate  – are collecting healthy tax breaks and should be stripped of their charity donation status, according to the NSW mining industry.

The NSW Minerals Council claims 16 “aggressive” activist movements have received tax breaks of “at least $18 million” based on the average tax rate.

NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee told The Daily Telegraph some activist groups were being “subsidised by the taxpayer” to carry out forms of protest.

The group – which represents the state’s $21 billion mining industry – has sent a 15-page submission to a federal parliamentary inquiry investigating the register of environmental organisations.
