Investing in Whitehaven women
To support an improved gender balance in leadership roles at Whitehaven, we have launched a challenging, progressive, and holistic Women’s Leadership Development Program. The Program aims to inspire and equip high-potential and senior female leaders with the confidence, skills, and drive to use their talents and step up in the business.
We want to encourage our talented women to learn from each other, overcome barriers, and thrive.
The six-to-eight-month program, delivered in partnership with Inkling Group, draws on performance psychology and behavioural science to help participants: build resilience and courage, find ways to overcome barriers and navigate change, gain influencing skills, increase visibility, networks and profile within Whitehaven and the mining industry; and develop personal action plans.
We have 14 females from across the business enrolled in our first cohort.
Sarah Withell, Executive General Manager – Health, Safety & Environment, says the program is crucial for encouraging women at Whitehaven to have the courage to take the next step in their careers.
“Throughout my working life I have benefited greatly from opportunities like these, without which I wouldn’t be where I am today,” says Sarah.
“I see the Women’s Leadership Development Program as an important development program offered at Whitehaven due to the positive impact it can have on the lives of our high-potential female employees, and also because of the well-known benefits of having equity and diversity in organisations.”
